This article exposes an ethnographic fieldwork about the pilgrimage to Wirikuta, carried out by the wixaritari, also called Huichol Indians, who live in the Sierra Madre Occidental in the Mexican state of Jalisco. We photographed the sacred sites visited by the xukurikate (pilgrims) from the Ceremonial Centers of Tseriakame (2011), Tunuwame (2012 y 2013) and San José Werika (2014), located in the municipality of Mezquitic. We discuss the sacredness of these places with both ethnographic evidence of the rituals that are performed and mythical narratives that are told at each site. Thus, we uncover an intimate and historical relation between the wixarika people and their sacred territory.
