Imágenes del terror en Colombia: Reflexiones sobre los documentos fotográficos en escenarios de violencia.

This paper analyzes the process of production, dissemination and interpretation of a series of pictures of victims massacred in the partisan conflict that Colombia faced between 1948 and 1960. It also presents an interpretative analysis of the attempt of both the perpetrators to photograph its otherness finalized, and the researchers of the “Comisión Nacional Investigadora de las Causas Actuales de la Violencia” to publish and disseminate such images with a high degree of violence. Ends emphasizing the feasibility and appropriateness of using photography as a reliable document, particularly for the reconstruction of historical events, not narrated, and the preservation of social memory in settings of armed conflict.
