This article pretends to investigate the Ecuadorian cinema of the first decades of XXth century with the purpose of understanding the ideological and political parameters from where the representations and the imaginary ones take place about the indian. Starting off of the notion of cinema like "semiotic apparatus" that "participates in decisive form in the social production of the identity and the subjectivity".
