The aims of this paper are: to position Furlong’s person as an ethnographer and to discuss the use of anthropological photography. To do so we will analyse two photographs, one published in a scientific context (Proceedings of the XIX Congreso Internacional Americanista), and the other one published in a massive media (Harper’s Magazine). The comparison between both publications will allow us to discuss the type of historical subject constructed by ethnological and anthropological sciences.
