The present work is the result of an investigation oriented towards reporting on the existing structures in the film story of the picture “Wichan el Juicio” (1994) by the filmmaker Magaly Meneses. The plot of this film is based on the passage of the story of the Mapuche chieftain Pascual Coña (1927), where the holding of a trial according to the old Mapuche tradition is described. In order to report on the structure of the story, which goes beyond the particular way in which the story is told, we will use the morphological model of Vladimir Propp. His method consists of the identification of the functions that articulate the story and that make it possible to be expressed in a formula. The application of this morphological model has allowed us to identify the different actions that support the film plot and how these actions represent typical values of the Mapuche culture.
