Abstract in spanish

Of the huge universe of images of the Mapuche world that are known from the beginning of photographic practice in Chile to the present day, stand out the one that has been copied copiously in the most varied iconographic contexts. This paper analyzes the different resources and procedures that have been used to convince us, distracted and unaware viewers, of the indescribable validity of these images as "ethnic" representation.
