Drawing whores: reflections about an ethnographic experience with phenomenological visions.
This work reflects about the making and analysis of “ethnographic drawings” as a possibility for visual reconstitution of the ethnographic experience in the field of “office” and street prostitution in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. It is possible by the study of the one situation’s two faces or moments. First, the question of aesthetic and visual constructions in the female sexual work and, next, the ethnographer skin in the fieldwork. These drawings are made as forming part of my PhD work about body, sexuality and sexual rights in female prostitution. Are draw in pencil over paper and digitally finished, it can take between one and four hours to be ready. It means the reconstruction, line by line, light by light, of a moment or moment’s group experienced by me. It’s a participant observation and everyday conversations based ethnographic work.
