Creating new images about the Others in Andean Colonial rock art.
As part of the process of construction of colonial society, a reflection took place in many of American societies about of how to conceptualize and represent the Spaniards conquers. In this article we explored some aspects of the construction of the most popularized pattern in Southern Andes about the Spaniards: the equestrian configuration. We postulated that although this was a process with shared cultural patterns by many Andean groups, also had local specificities (of style and identity) related with the local historical processes lived by those communities. We propose, finally, that in Southern Andes formed a specific pattern that was transforming throughout the colonial centuries.
