The notion of image is approached from a wide spectrum that it is born as a theoretically - conceptual correlate to the fieldwork of a research that is taking place in Villa France, Santiago, Chile. The image notion is juxtaposed to the arrangement of place and memory, the presentation of oral statements, as well as the configuration and reproductions of diverse forms of urban commemorative interventions. Across these dimensions, the image appears so much as mental image and imagination, as well as material production and reproduction of images. The image notion can express in such diverse narratives as the oral relates or the material representation of memory. Particularly this paper emphasizes the role of photography as vehicle and expression of memorialización.
