Theoretical and methodological reflections on the use of photography in social research: Middle-class identities and piquetera memory in the Pueyrredón Bridge (Avellaneda, Buenos Aires, 2002-2009).
This paper reflects on the use of photography in social research in order to guide tehoretical and methodological decisions in the research on identity and order´s demands of the middle clases located in Avellaneda city.
The document considers the epistemological and theoretical assumptions of the photographic image and its role in the context of investigations that seek the understanding and interpretation of sociological objects. Then it examine the use of photography within the broader strategy of the investigation. The paper concludes with some preliminary notes as a manner of conclusions. Thus, the questions that guide the work can be synthesized into: what conceptual elements guide the use of photography in social research?
