Exploration, science and spectacle. The cinematography about Amazon in the first half of the twentieth century.
This paper presents some elements for an analysis of the processes by which, both documentary and fiction films, performed in the first half of the twentieth century by American and European explorers and filmmakers, created a set of representations of the Amazon. These representations were the manifestation of a discursive practice and a policy of construction of otherness with convergence and articulation of the discourses of science, popular culture and practice of representational otherness, manifest in the cinema of the first half of the twentieth century.
