Visual ethnography of the Sanctuary of the Mister of Cerrito.
This study refers to a visual anthropogy of Sanctuary of Mister of the Cerrito located on top of a mountain in the central Mexican highlands. The sacred site is located in the community of Santa Cruz Tepexpan in the municipality of Jiquipilco in the State of Mexico. The visual representations correspond to the recording made from two perspectives: on the one hand, the video made by Televisa-traditions; on the other, by the indigenous filmmakers systematized in a video-documentary with representations of an Otomí pilgrimage and supported by field work. The records not only contribute to the documentation of the sacred site, but also constitute sources of study and analysis of the visual data they present. The representation of the ritual, of space, of the participants, of time, are a peculiar religious practice of the indigenous or native peoples of this Otomí/Mazahua region.
