Compilation of the photographic album of Tierra del Fuego.
This paper proposes an attentive gaze towards the production of certain photographic albums from Tierra del Fuego in the XIX and early XX centuries. Their representational value is emphasised, as well as their relationship with the dominant ideologies about the construction of a Fuegian subject. Such construction will be guided by the kind of editing, setting and use of certain photographs which generate a particular text and a particular reading.
The un-setting of the albums in features such as their materiality reveal their production ideology, since the photographic album acts as an image container or file which show an epoch, diverse imaginaries generated by the photographer or the editor, circulation circuits, the value of the artefact as a collection piece and of its construction in an eternal present.
