Maracatu and youth identity processes: the plot construction of the newness in the social environment of tradition and experience.
This is a search was done with a group named Arrasta Ilha-(AI) settled in Florianópolis, State of Santa Catarina, south of Brazil, and was organized around the northeast cultural music whose origin is African, maracatu. It was adopted the group interview with six relevant orientated theme to the search; individual interviews with key informants from open script; photography black and white; observation and subsequent field diary with accounts collected during nine months of work. The article is presented on screen as a small part of an intense, long and comprehensive approach to the study group pointing towards relevant aspects of youth identity construction in progress at the group highlighting that the identities are constructed without a universal character; they are relational, hybrid and open.
