Ethnocide and nontraditional icons of representation among the Mapuche of Santiago.
In this communication I refer to different icons of Mapuche ethnic representation that escape the traditional pattern of representation. I am referring mainly to icons that, although they are key to the Mapuche identity, are atypically characteristic, precisely because they are not rural or of rural origin. Based on the fact that ethnic identity, although it uses traditional diacritics to mark and define its position, is also constantly incorporating new icons that refer, not to traditional stereotypes, but to the interaction of a certain identity with new conditions of life, from which arise also different icons of representation.
