The self-representation has become a necessity in the indigenous video: to protect the collective property.
The main reflection of this article is related to the auto-representation in the indigenous video, putting emphasis in the transmission of messages using sounds and images. In addition, considering the historical appropriation that the western world has committed with the indigenous image, the right and need of the communities managing, constructing and circulating their own images is raised. This last point is of great interest because it is vital to generate a broader discussion in relation to the difficult situation in which the Colombian indigenous communities live, and also to make allies in the protection of indigenous territory and culture. Facing this view, the author gathers the teachings of his ancestral authorities or "mamo" those who sustain that "the difficulties, day after day, are our teachers who teach us to walk the world; without difficulties you do not learn".
