¿Can the subaltern look at us? The cinema of Jean Rouch and the subaltern theory of Gayatri Spivak.
This article proposes to analyze, based on the contributions of the visual anthropology of Jean Rouch and the postcolonial theories of Gayatri Spivak, the possibilities offered by audiovisual media as a subaltern way of breaking with the hegemonic narratives that have been imposed in colonial contexts. This with the objective of reflecting on the ethical scope of cinema and anthropology as forms of social and cultural representation.
